Sai Wan

Sai Wan or Western District, or simply Western, is an area in Hong Kong that corresponds to Sai Ying Pun, Shek Tong Tsui, Belcher Bay and Kennedy Town.

Sai Wan is mostly a residential area on Hong Kong Island with a lot of old Chinese traditional buildings there. Recently, a couple of new residential developments was built and gradually becomes one of a popular area for expatriate.

As Sai Wan is one of the earliest developed district in Hong Kong and the population here is much less than other places in HK Island, there is no MTR station locating there. However the network of bus, minibus and tram in Sai Wan is good. It can afford the daily transportation of residents there. MTR Cooperation has commenced the construction of the West Island Line, including the Kennedy Town Station, located next to the existing Kwun Lung Lau. It is expected to be completed in 2014.
